Fiona Kirkpatrick Parsons is owīhtamakīw — meaning “one who advises” in the Woodland Cree language — and the founder of Kirkpatrick Parsons Consulting. A proud member of Lac La Ronge First Nation, Treaty 6 Territory, she honours both her Woodland Cree heritage on her mother’s side and her Scottish ancestry on her father’s. Fiona is a passionate champion of reconciliation in Canada, committed to inspiring and empowering others to walk the path of reconciliation with authenticity, courage, and kindness.
Fiona recently returned to independent consulting after spearheading reconciliation efforts at the largest professional services firm in Canada, where she led the development of the first Reconciliation Action Plan in corporate Canada (June 2020). She advised leadership, worked with clients on Indigenous-focused engagements, and co-authored a publication highlighting the critical connection between climate action and reconciliation.
With over 30 years of experience in communications and marketing across public, private, and media sectors, Fiona is also a seasoned speaker and facilitator. She has appeared in various media, been a guest on multiple podcasts, and served as a keynote speaker, panelist, and moderator at conferences and boardrooms nationwide.
Her volunteer work includes being the first woman to chair a North American Indigenous Games (NAIG 2023 in Kjipuktuk/Halifax), the largest multi-sport and cultural gathering in Atlantic Canadian history. She currently sits on the boards of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) and the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, NL. Fiona has also chaired the Halifax Comedy Festival, served as president of the International Association of Business Communicators – Maritime Chapter, and held various nonprofit board roles in Halifax and Calgary.
She continues to volunteer with the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia and mentors Indigenous youth, emerging professionals, and newcomers to Canada.
